The term nanotechnology refers to the ability to handle matter that is very small in scale, such as the size of molecules or atoms. These structures being manipulated can be sized anywhere from one to one hundred nanometers. The new and innovative materials being developed with nanotechnology can have a wide spectrum of uses and applications. For instance, nanotechnology is utilized in medicine, the production of energy, electronics and biomaterials.

In essence, any technique or tool that is small enough and interesting to use can be referred to as nanotechnology. To have control and to have the ability to change matter on the scale of nanometers is a necessary ingredient for nanotechnology. It is the building of working systems on a molecular scale that are remarkably light in weight, strong, intelligent, and durable.

Nanotechnology produces nanomaterials, which have the ability to target specific areas. With the use of nanotechnology, skin care products can be made that better penetrate beneath the skins surface.

Skin care products that use nanotechnology by converting the ingredients into nano-sized products can improve the bloods circulation, resulting in reducing those dark circles under the eyes, for instance. It does this by eliminating waste products and oxidized particles that cause the dark circles in the first place. Nanotechnology can also be used for other pigmentation issues. Combining vitamin K with nanotechnology can alleviate the appearance of unsightly spider veins on the skin. Using Vitamin K to treat spider veins has been previously known, but it has not before been able to penetrate the skin as it is able to today using nanotechnology. It can also moisturize, giving skin a nourished, smooth and healthy look.

Those who would like the wrinkles and lines removed from their lips no longer have to undergo lip augmentation. Because of nanotechnology, lip plumpers will increase the volume and plumpness of your lips with the simple application of a lipstick tube that has plumper ingredients in it. Stretch marks, scars and sagging skin can also be helped by nanotechnology.

The microscopic particles used in nanotechnological skin care treatment can penetrate into the skin. The absorption is quick. Skin care products such as anti-aging creams and sunscreen are used and manufactured as nano skin care products. The primary benefits of nanoparticles used in sunscreens are that the particles can fit into all the tiny areas and cracks of the skin, placing more protection and evenly placed sunscreen coverage on the skins surface. Sunscreen products manufactured using nanoparticles are more cosmetically appealing because they seem to vanish into the skin when they are applied. People will use them more frequently for this reason, contributing to the anti-aging effects of the product. Sunscreens using macro-sized particles actually absorb ultraviolet light, and can possibly be toxic to humans. The sunscreens using nanoparticles coat the skin and do not allow for ultraviolet absorption.

A product that uses nanotechnology is considered to be a natural product. The products do not simply lay on the skins surface; they penetrate the skin, a product that has been sought out for a very long time.
